Sanctuary is a space for any woman who has or has had breast cancer, to make time for herself and whatever she may need right now. We come together in the evening on the first Tuesday of every month in a private space in Lancaster. You can arrive at any time from 18:00 and leave any time before 22:00, as you choose.
Within that space, women can come along and not breathe a word about cancer if they don't want to. Or, they can come and have a big shouty cry. They can sit quietly in the corner with the book or Nintendo Switch they've brought from home, or they can treat themselves to a slap up three course meal. They can choose from (or bring) an artsy crafty activity, or they can be still by the window for a few silent moments. In other words, any woman who comes along to Sanctuary can feel comfortable in her freedom to prioritise whatever it is she'd like to have time for right now.
There's no "leader" or "talks". We just come and relax however we want and, all things considered, it's a pretty positive space. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Whether you were diagnosed 30 years ago or only last week, it's easy to feel out of control at times on your cancer journey. Sanctuary is here to give you back control.
In order to keep the space safe and private, further details will not be shared in this description. If you're a woman who has or has had breast cancer and you might like to come along to Sanctuary in the future, please join our Facebook group or contact Lauren on 07736 935340 and we'll happily welcome you at your pace.
