Jewellers is an alternative space aimed at supporting local creative practice through monthly gatherings of
- live performance, film/video, and sound;
- night school, a free postgraduate education programme;
- displays, two accessible exhibitions in the Arndale Centre of Culture [aka Arndale Shopping Centre] and Morecambe Library;
- and ware, an online shop offering affordable local stuff.
Jewellers adds to a growing hub of creative culture in Morecambe's town centre.
Jewellers is co-directed by Amy Dickson and Jamie Jenkinson.
Our interests
Jewellers supports a decentralisation of the arts from major cities, the redistribution of funds, and access to free arts education across the UK. We are interested in practices that might reflect the culture of the North West, particularly the unique energies of Morecambe.
We are primarily interested in the development of financially and ecologically low-cost practices - especially within a climate and cost of living crisis, and growing economic divide - those that are of the Morecambe Bay area.
Where to find us
Jewellers is triangulated between Iceland and BetFred, in the old Herbert Brown jewellers unit. Inside we have a cinema setup hosting screenings, talks, workshops and gigs.
Our display spaces Windows & Video are public facing into the Arndale Centre of Culture and Morecambe Library. Both operate during their respective hours.
